MALLKINI

RANCH

The Mallkini ranch is located in the province of Azangaro, in Puno, at more than 4,100 metres above sea level. The geography and ecosystems make it the perfect place for rearing the more than 4,000 alpacas that live on the ranch.

Located in the heart of the Andes, it is an authentic natural sanctuary for alpacas while having lodgings for visitors and a research centre.

MALLKINI

MORE THAN JUST A RANCH

Mallkini Ranch has an important mission:

A part of the mission of the Mallkini Ranch is to become a source of development for the alpaca-rearing communities of Puno. With this in mind, the staff at Mallkini provide training for the alpaca herdsmen with the object of improving their herds and their quality of life, guaranteeing the sustainability of the alpaca industry.

Alpaca Breeding Centre

At Mallkini we're aware of the importance of improving the quality of alpaca fibre and increasing the population of alpacas in the Peruvian Andes. This is why we've set up a series of programmes jointly with the University of La Molina and the Peruvian Department of Agriculture.

Furthermore, we hold workshops and seminars on breeding techniques and the handling of alpacas in a specially equipped classroom, at our house, while we have facilities at Sorani for carrying out practical field work.
