IN ALPACA

Fashion

There are more than twenty natural shades from which to create splendid color palettes that inspire versatile designs.

Softness

Mallkini garments are made from the finest grades of alpaca fiber: Baby Alpaca and Baby Suri Alpaca.

Thermal insulation

This characteristic of the fiber allows a degree of ventilation for the skin in warm conditions but keeps the body warm on cold days. This all happens because of the presence of microscopic air pockets within each fiber.

Physical properties

Alpaca fiber is strong, elastic and non-flammable.

Bio-degradability

Alpaca fiber is natural hair formed from proteins. As such, it is naturally biodegradable when discarded and mixed into the soil.

WE LOVE

ALPACA

Did you know ... ?

Alpacas are native to the Peruvian highlands and about four million alpacas live in South America.

Their habitat is located in the higher regions, where the climatic conditions are extreme. Interestingly, this leads to their having the finest of fibers with several special properties; some of these enable this amazing animal to survive in the very harsh climate.

This is the reason why the fiber from alpacas reared in Peru will always be of higher quality than alpaca fiber obtained in other parts of the world.

Like cashmere, angora and mohair, alpaca fiber is considered to be among the world’s finest and most luxurious. The ALPACA belongs to the family of the South American camelids, together with the vicuña, the guanaco and the llama.

OF THE ALPACA POPULATION

Its fine and bulky fiber occurs in the widest variety of natural shades, and is the predominant variety of the alpaca in Peru.

OF THE ALPACA POPULATION

The less common alpaca type, the suri has a beautiful long, silky and lustrous coat. Its wavy hair occurs in a more restricted range of natural shades.

Our philosophy is to use natural,
sustainable, biodegradable and
ethical products.
The alpaca is
shorn, not
killed

Alpaca fiber is obtained once every twelve months, only during the shearing season. We thus safeguard the animal’s sustainability.

We have a
commitment
to Nature

Alpaca is a hair composed of proteins; once it has carried out its function it may be safely discarded as it is biodegradable.
